Einstein Medical Center Montgomery welcomes first baby

Just nine hours after it began accepting patients, the new Einstein Medical Center Montgomery delivered its first child when Jennifer and Brad Autry of Norristown welcomed a baby girl into the world at 3:22 p.m. Saturday.

The little girl, whom the parents named Ann, weighed in at 7 pounds, 7 ounces and was 20 inches long. She was also the only child born on Einstein’s inaugural day.
Ann’s birth marked a momentous milestone in a two-year, $350 million process for Einstein Healthcare Network and Einstein Medical Center Montgomery, which officially opened its doors at 6 a.m. on Saturday and patients from Montgomery Hospital were transferred in.

“After a successful transition of patients from Montgomery Hospital Medical Center, it was great to be able to celebrate the opening of Einstein Medical Center Montgomery with the birth of our first baby,” said Damien Woods, director of public relations for Einstein Healthcare Network.

While the delivery of Ann Autry was the first of what promises to be untold thousands of babies born at Einstein, Montgomery Hospital delivered its last of hundreds of thousands of babies, a boy, at 6:26 a.m.
