Arnold W. Cohen, MD
Chairman and Residency Program Director; Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Jefferson Medical College, Thomas Jefferson
University
Dr. Cohen is a graduate of Cornell University Medical College, Ithaca, NY where he was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha. He
completed two years of a medical residency prior to completing residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the Hospital of the
University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. After time spent in the U.S. Air Force as a Major stationed at David Grant Medical
Center in California, Dr. Cohen returned to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania to complete his fellowship in maternal-fetal
medicine. Dr. Cohen is board certified in obstetrics/gynecology and maternal-fetal medicine, and has special interests in
medical complications of pregnancy, diabetes in pregnancy and prematurity prevention. He also has special expertise in managed
care, electronic medical record systems and medical liability issues.
Throughout his career, Dr. Cohen has held various leadership positions. He served as Chairman, Division of Maternal-Fetal
Medicine at Albert Einstein Medical Center, Philadelphia; Director, Obstetrics and Maternal-Fetal Medicine at the Hospital
of the University of Pennsylvania; and Corporate Medical Director of Women’s Health at U.S. Healthcare, later Aetna Inc.,
Blue Bell, PA. In this role, he was responsible for program development and implementation, contracting, and coverage policies
relating to all of women’s health. In 2002, Dr. Cohen returned to Albert Einstein Medical Center as Chairman and Residency
Program Director. He also serves on the Board of Overseers of the Albert Einstein Healthcare Network.
Dr. Cohen is presently a Board Member of the Society for Maternal Fetal Medicine and the Coalition and Center for Ethical
Medical Testimony and Vice President of the Obstetrical Society of Philadelphia. He has served as President of the Philadelphia
Perinatal Society, President of the Pennsylvania Perinatal Association, Chairman of Pennsylvania section of the American College
of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and Chairman of the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists Committee on Course
Coordination. Dr. Cohen has been and continues to be a reviewer for many journals, including Obstetrics & Gynecology, American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the New England Journal of Medicine. He has authored more than 100 articles and abstracts and has contributed to many texts in the field. Dr. Cohen has lectured
nationally and internationally on high risk obstetric topics as well as issues relating to the business of medicine. He has
served on many local, state and national committees relating to obstetrical care of undeserved populations and perinatal care.
Philip Horn, MD
Associate Program Director; Gynecological Surgery
Dr. Horn is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and completed his internship and residency in
obstetrics and gynecology at Pennsylvania Hospital. He has been involved in medical education with residents and students
since 1994 and is the recipient of multiple teaching awards from both Albert Einstein Medical Center and the Philadelphia
College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Horn is board certified in obstetrics/gynecology and is a Fellow of the American College
of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
David Jaspan, DO
Associate Program Director; Chief, Gynecology; Director, Minimally Invasive and Pelvic Surgery
Dr. Jaspan is a graduate of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his obstetrics and gynecology residency
at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. In addition to his role as Associate Program Director, Dr. Jaspan is
active at the institutional level and serves as Treasurer, Albert Einstein Medical Center Medical Staff Board and is a member
of the Quality Assurance Council, Cancer Committee and Operating Room Committee.
Dr. Jaspan is a three time recipient of the American Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics (APGO) Excellence in Teaching
Award; his most recent award was for the 2004-2005 academic year. He also was selected into the prestigious Solvay Scholars
Program by APGO in 2003. Dr. Jaspan is board certified in obstetrics/gynecology.
Charles R.B. Beckmann, MD, MHPE
Director, Ob/Gyn Academic Affairs; Medical Director, Paley Ob/Gyn Associates
Dr. Beckmann graduated from the University of Missouri School of Medicine, completed his obstetrics and gynecology residency
at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke's Medical Center, Chicago and obtained his Masters in Health Professions Education at the University
of Illinois. He also holds a Certificate in Business Administration from Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Beckmann is a Fellow
of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Jefferson Medical College,
Thomas Jefferson University.
Dr. Beckmann is an active participant in graduate medical education at Albert Einstein Medical Center and serves as a member
on both the institution's Graduate Education Committee and the Continuing Medical Education Committees. He is author of over
60 papers and 5 books including Obstetrics and Gynecology, 5th edition. Dr. Beckmann also is a reviewer for various journals including Obstetrics and Gynecology, International Journal of Gynecology and Obstetrics, Journal of Maternal and Fetal Medicine and Journal of Obstetric, Gynecologic and Neonatal Nursing. He is board certified in obstetrics/gynecology.

General Obstetrics and Gynecology
Stephanie Almeida, DO joined the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology faculty in August 2004 upon graduation from Albert Einstein Medical Center's
obstetrics and gynecology residency program. Dr. Almeida was appointed to the position of Administrative Chief Resident during
her last year of training. She is a graduate of Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Mabel Bonilla, MD joined the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology faculty in October 2004. She is a graduate of Ponce Medical School, Puerto
Rico and completed her obstetrics and gynecology residency at MCP/Hahnemann University Hospital, Philadelphia, PA.
Janet Ko, MD is the most recent addition to the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology faculty. Dr. Ko graduated from Einstein's obstetrics
and gynecology residency program in July 2006 where she was appointed to the position of Administrative Chief Resident during
her last year of training. She is a graduate of Memorial University Newfoundland Faculty of Medicine, Canada.
Hyun-Joo Lee, MD is board certified in obstetrics/gynecology and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She
is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and completed her residency at Albert Einstein Medical
Center.
Deslyn Mancini, MD is board certified in obstetrics/gynecology and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Dr.
Mancini is a graduate of the Medical College of Pennsylvania and completed her residency at the Medical College of Pennsylvania
Hospital.
John Myers, DO serves as the Medical Student Clerkship Director for Jefferson Medical College students rotating at Einstein. Dr. Myers
is a graduate of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his obstetrics and gynecology residency at
Albert Einstein Medical Center.
Claire Robinson, MD is board certified in both obstetrics/gynecology and gynecology. Dr. Robinson is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians
and Gynecologists. She attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and completed her obstetrics and gynecology
residency at Temple University Hospital, Philadelphia.
Farly Sejour, MD is a 2005 graduate of Einstein's obstetrics and gynecology residency program and joined the faculty of the Department upon
completion of the program. Dr. Sejour served as Administrative Chief Resident in his final year of training and was the recipient
of the institution's 2005 William and Margaret Menin Humanistic Sensitivity Award. He completed his medical school education
at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey - Robert Wood Johnson (UMDNJ- RWJ).
Maternal - Fetal Medicine
James Byers, MD is board certified in obstetrics/gynecology and maternal fetal medicine and is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics
and Gynecology and a member of the Society of Perinatal Obstetricians. Dr. Byers is a graduate of Dartmouth Medical School,
New Hampshire and completed his obstetrics and gynecology residency at Hahnemann University Hospital and his maternal fetal
medicine fellowship at the State University of New York Health Science Center, Syracuse, NY (SUNY-Syracuse). He is Clinical
Assistant Professor, Jefferson Medical College, Thomas Jefferson University.
Andrew Chau, MD is board certified in obstetrics/gynecology and maternal fetal medicine. Dr. Chau is Director of Research for the Department
of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He attended Louisiana State University School of Medicine and completed his obstetrics and
gynecology residency at the affiliated hospitals of Louisiana State University and his maternal fetal medicine fellowship
at UCLA Medical Center, Los Angeles. Dr. Chau is the recipient of a Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology
National Faculty Award for Excellence in Resident Education (CREOG) Award.

Carlene Quashie, MD is Director, Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine. Dr. Quashie is board certified in obstetrics/gynecology and maternal fetal
medicine and is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and Society of Maternal Fetal Medicine.
She is Assistant Professor, Jefferson Medical College, Thomas Jefferson University. Dr. Quashie attended medical school
at the State University of New York Health Science Center, Syracuse (SUNY-Syracuse) and completed her obstetrics and gynecology
residency at Temple University Hospital, Philadelphia and her maternal fetal medicine fellowship at Pennsylvania Hospital,
Philadelphia.

Charles Dunton, MD is Chief, Main Line Gynecologic Oncology and AEMC Gyn Oncology.
David Holtz, MD is faculty, Main Line Gynecologic Oncology and AEMC Gyn Oncology.
Cynthia Bergman, MD is faculty, Fox Chase Cancer Center (FCCC) and supervisor of AEMC residents rotating to FCCC.

Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility
Larry I. Barmat, MD serves as Director of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI) at Albert Einstein Medical Center.
His areas of special interest and research include the use of autologous endometrial coculture to improve in vitro fertilization
pregnancy rates. Dr. Barmat is Adjunct Associate Professor at Thomas Jefferson University/Jefferson Medical College and Professor
at Temple University School of Medicine.
Jay S. Schinfeld, MD is Director of the Division of REI at Abington Memorial Hospital. His areas of special interest include pre-implantation
genetics and laser laparoscopy. Dr. Schinfeld is a Clinical Associate Professor at Thomas Jefferson University/Jefferson
Medical College.
Stephen G. Somkuti, MD, PhD is Director of the InVitro Fertilization program at the Abington Memorial Hospital Toll Center for Reproductive Science.
His research interests include the effects of endometriosis on implantation. Dr. Somkuti is an Assistant Professor at Thomas
Jefferson University/Jefferson Medical College.
