Technologies and Techniques

  • A focus on technologies and techniques

From pregnancy to birth, Einstein uses the newest technologies to ensure the best delivery possible.

    Prenatal tests available

    • Doppler ultrasounds check the blood flow and health of the fetus. These can be performed any time during pregnancy.
    • Chorionic villus sampling (CVS) identifies chromosome abnormalities and other inherited disorders through the removal of chorionic villi cells from the placenta between 10 and 13 weeks of gestation. It can also determine paternity.
    • MaterniT21™ PLUS Test, a non-invasive blood test for chromosomal abnormalities
    • Amniocentesis looks for neural tube defects, genetic disorders, chromosome abnormalities, and paternity between 14 and 20 weeks of gestation. During the procedure, a needle collects a sample of amniotic fluid that is analyzed in a laboratory.
    • Fetal echocardiography evaluates the baby’s potential heart problems after 17 weeks of gestation.
    • Non-stress and biophysical profile testing determine the baby’s breathing, movement, muscle tone, heart rate and amniotic fluid in the later second or early third trimester.
    • 3-D ultrasound uses sound waves to form a more complete and lifelike image of your baby.
