Kimberly R. Best, MD
Kimberly R. Best, MD, is the Program Director of Psychiatry Residency Training at Albert Einstein Medical Center. Earning her BS and MD degrees in five years in the Penn State-Jefferson Five Year Program, Dr. Best completed her psychiatry
residency and then took time off to care for her family. As a result of this career path, she has a broad range of life experiences,
and a sense of the value of individualizing training for the needs and interests of each resident. She makes sure each resident
is exposed to the basics, and then helps the resident develop a special area of focus. With added training and experience
in biologic, psychological and socio-cultural realms, she is committed to training residents to see the whole patient. She
is board certified in Psychiatry and has subspecialty certification in Psychosomatic Medicine. As an advanced psychoanalytic
candidate with the Psychoanalytic Center of Philadelphia, and a Trustee of the American Academy of Psychoanalysis and Dynamic
Psychiatry, she insures that the residency provides many hours of exposure to analytic thought, allowing residents to begin
to understand the influence of the unconscious mind. Dr. Best is a past-president of the Pennsylvania Psychiatric Society,
and encourages residents to be involved in advocacy for patients and for the profession of psychiatry. All residents are members
of the American Psychiatric Association, and each year a number of residents hold offices with local professional organizations.
