The critical reading of scientific articles, research methodologies and statistical techniques are presented in a series of seminars throughout training.

Residents are encouraged to participate in the hospital's highly active clinical trials research program. This program has conducted over 40 CNS clinical trials in the past ten years. The project team members are highly experienced clinical researchers who have taken a leading role in the testing of new compounds for the treatment of schizophrenia, bi-polar disorder, depression and anorexia nervosa. A statistician is available on site to assist with research design and analysis of data. Residents are encouraged and supported in preparing posters for regional and national presentations, and a number of residents have been awarded prizes for their work.
