The Department of Radiology at the Albert Einstein Medical Center offers a five-year, combined clinical / radiology residency
program to qualified fourth-year medical student applicants from an approved ACGME medical school.
If you are a fourth-year medical student, you can indicate interest in this combined program by selecting the T1 track on
your ERAS application. If accepted into this track, you will begin with a transitional year of clinical training here. This will be followed by entry into the Diagnostic Radiology Training Program at the Medical Center
the following year. If you are interested in applying for this opportunity, you need file only one application to us through
ERAS by selecting the PGY-1 (T1) track and you may, if invited (and as space permits), participate in a one-day interview session
for both the Transitional and the Radiology programs.
This transitional year is designed for prospective radiology residents in order to optimize your clinical training so as to
prepare you for the practice of radiology. Besides containing ample time for electives, you will be able to spend time in
the specialties you will need most as a radiologist.
- Eliminate the hassle of searching for and the possibility of not matching with a preliminary year.
- File just one application with us for all five years of training.
- Do away with the possibility of moving from city to city before your residency begins.
- Have the opportunity to attend radiology conferences and other special radiology events during your preliminary year.
Of course, if you desire, you may still apply for a separate year of clinical training in the program of your choice followed
by four years of radiology training here. Indicate your interest in this track by selecting the PGY–2 (T2) track on your ERAS application. If you are not sure which track is best for your needs, you may indicate an interest in both tracks.
The choice is yours. With either choice, you are still assured of the same excellent level of teaching and broad range of
clinical experience that is at the heart of our program.
