    Tobacco Use and Dependence Treatment Resource List - Pennsylvania  

     

    Pennsylvania Free "QUITLINE"   1-800-QUIT NOW (800-784-8669)  
    Toll-free phone counseling for Pennsylvania residents trying to quit smoking/tobacco use. The Quitline is a cooperative partnership between the Pennsylvania Department of Health (DOH) and the American Cancer Society. Based on state-of-the-art techniques in smoking cessation, the service provides counseling and structured assistance for individuals who are committed to quitting. Phone calls are answered 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with direct services typically offered during business hours.

    Providers in Pennsylvania with expertise in tobacco cessation who are currently enrolled in the Medical Assistance Program may provide tobacco cessation counseling services if they are preapproved with the DOH as a Tobacco Cessation Program. Providers can receive this preapproval, as long as they meet the DOH criteria, by contacting the DOH at the above number. Reimbursement for providing 15 minutes of "face-to-face" counseling (includes both individual and group sessions) is $15.00 per unit.

    Clean Air for Healthy Children, a continuing education program for clinicians who treat/counsel pregnant women, mothers, caregivers of young children and teens who smoke, is funded by the Pennsylvania Department of Health and contractually administered by the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
