Albert Einstein Medical Center's Department of Surgery offers its residents a broad range of educational opportunites. With
more than 80 beds dedicated to the surgical services and 50 attending surgeons actively involved in the teaching program,
residents benefit from facilities and equipment that represent the latest advances in modern surgery. More than 10,000 procedures
are performed by surgeons in the department with more than 1,000 procedures in the medical center's Women's Center facilities
each year.
Einstein Medical Center's broad scope of services including multidisciplinary cancer programs; open heart surgery program;
kidney, liver and pancreas transplant programs; and our designation as a Level 1 Regional Trauma Center attract a large number
of patients requiring both routine and unusual tertiary care. Within this environment, residents gain invaluable experience
and master the many skills they will need to pursue careers in general surgery or fellowship training.
Though residency in general surgery is demanding, Albert Einstein Medical Center creates an environment sensitive to the emotional
and social needs of its house staff. The esprit de corps within the surgical department supports a spirit of cooperation,
professionalism and medicine practiced with compassion.
