I am feeling Irritable
Most people feel irritable at one time or another. But, when you experience excessive irritability that persists for extended
periods, has no apparent cause and disrupts your life, your work and your relationships, it can be a sign of a serious condition
that requires professional assistance.
If one or more of these problems describes your situation, you may require professional help:
- Lash out at people around you
- Have a volatile temper
- Have problems sitting still
- Commonly experience anger at yourself for losing control
Here’s an example of how excessive irritability can adversely affect someone:
Paul’s irritability was starting to affect both his work and his relationship with his spouse. He also found himself lashing
out at his co-workers over minor issues that had never bothered him before. He and his wife never used to argue, but now due
to his temper and irritability, it seemed they were arguing constantly. To make matters worse he is angry with himself for
losing control of his feelings.
Irritability has many causes. But it’s important to remember, you are not alone. The clinical staff at Belmont Behavioral
