Recovery Stories - Estelle's story
A schizophrenic dealing with depression, her story is one of faith and responsibility.
“It is not the I, it is not the You, it is We that gets us through…”
I hope that I may be a help to somebody as I pass along this way.
At Belmont Outpatient therapy, where I go every Tuesday and Thursday, there is a sign on the wall:
“It is not the I, it is not the You but it is We that get’s us through.” These words grabbed me the first time I read them.
They are truly powerful.
I have a very strong relationship with God – with my God. Life does not always seem like a bowl of cherries, but I go to God
in prayer and I’m learning how to leave my burdens there.
We must respect the staff at Belmont because they do everything they can to make it easy for us. They are there fighting for
us to make our day more comfortable.
We also have to do our part and take responsibility for our own well-being. Keep a record of your medication and report to
your doctor how you are feeling because he is trained to see the signs and is anxious to help. This is what his profession
is – helping somebody, helping me, helping you.
Just believe and your self shall receive.
