Eating Disorders Treatment Program

Eating disorders affect over eight million teenagers and young adults in the United States. The two most common forms of eating disorders are anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa.

Belmont Behavioral Health's program recognizes the complexity of each patient's eating disorder and develops individualized treatment plans to address each person's needs. We conduct a comprehensive evaluation to assess each person's psychological, medical and social functioning.

Once a person has entered one of our programs, our multidisciplinary treatment team monitors each patient's progress toward recovery. We encourage all patients to take an active role in their own treatment by collaborating with the treatment team. Families are encouraged to actively participate in the treatment process as well.

Inpatient care

The Eating Disorders Inpatient Program at Belmont Center for Comprehensive Treatment includes daily meetings with a psychiatrist, individual therapy, art therapy and other group - and family - therapy sessions. Patients are closely monitored and treated medically until they are able to progress to self-responsibility and control.

The program includes supervised meals and snacks and ongoing nutrition therapy. Adolescents in school continue with their studies through the Adolescent School Program. All eating disorder patients are housed and treated in a separate unit located within Belmont Center for comprehensive Treatment. This unit offers semi-private rooms, a comfortable lounge and an adjoining kitchenette.

Partial hospitalization program

Partial hospitalization often helps ease the transition between inpatient care and outpatient treatment. Alternatively, partial hospitalization can provide additional support and structure for those who need intensive outpatient help but do not require hospitalization to stabilize their symptoms.

The partial hospitalization program is a full-day program. Patients meet five days a week at Belmont Center for Comprehensive Treatment. The program includes supervised breakfast and lunch, nutrition therapy, individual and group therapy and art therapy. Patients also meet regularly with the program psychiatrist.
