Belmont Behavioral Health

Inpatient Care - Bipolar Disorder

Inpatient care is available at Belmont Behavioral Health and Einstein Medical Center Philadelphia. Our patients are treated under the direction of a board-certified psychiatrist and a team of mental health professionals. We perform an extensive assessment, which includes a full medical history as well as a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation. In addition, we work closely with family members to help develop treatment solutions during the hospital stay and after discharge. Patients themselves actively participate in a goal-oriented treatment plan customized to meet their unique requirements.

Inpatient Services provided include:

  • Comprehensive psychiatric evaluation
  • Medication treatment and education
  • Group and individual therapies
  • Rehabilitative therapies
  • Aftercare planning

An Inpatient Dual Diagnosis Program is available for those suffering from both substance abuse and a bipolar disorder. Services provided include:

  • Comprehensive psychiatric evaluation
  • Psychological testing
  • Group, family and individual psychotherapy
  • Leisure planning
  • Stress management
  • Wellness activities
  • Family interventions
  • Medication treatment and education
  • Additional therapies, such as psychodrama and art therapy
  • Self-help referrals when appropriate

As a part of Einstein Healthcare Network, Belmont Behavioral Health is uniquely qualified to provide this specialized care. Offering a full continuum of health care, each patient in the program receives a full evaluation including a physical examination, laboratory testing and psychiatric assessment. If medical complications are present, they are treated by Belmont medical staff or, when medically necessary, by physicians at Einstein Medical Center Philadelphia.

During the initial recovery period, the patient participates in individual, group and family counseling sessions. Recreational therapies are used to promote sobriety and restore a productive lifestyle.

Attendance at meetings of Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous is required and it is expected that patients will participate in an aftercare program. A full complement of outpatient to partial hospitalization programs is available at Belmont.
