Einstein cardiologists use advanced technology such as this modern pacemaker (right), not much larger than a quarter, and
much smaller than the older pacemaker, pictured left.

Einstein cardiologists can choose from a range of options to get your heart’s rhythm back in sync.
Powered by batteries,
pacemakers are small units implanted just below your collarbone and attached to your heart with tiny wires called leads.
Pacemakers help your heart beat more regularly. Some pacemakers are equipped with
defibrillators, electronic devices that deliver a short shock to the heart if your heart rhythm gets severely out of sync.
Radiofrequency ablation is another technique used to correct heart rhythm disorders. Radiofrequency is a type of energy used to destroy small areas
in the heart that malfunction, causing the abnormal heart rhythms. The abnormal circuit is ablated (destroyed).
Researchers have been discovering new ways to treat heart rhythm disorders for decades. Further advances in the field may
lead to new cures for many heart rhythm problems.
