With the combination of excellent surgical techniques and state-of-the-art immunosuppressant medications, Einstein's team
has obtained one-year patient and graft survival rates well above the national average.
At Einstein's Kidney Transplant Program, all potential transplant patients are thoroughly evaluated and most are accepted
for transplantation. In fact, our Program is well known for accepting high-risk patients — the exception being the presence
of active infection or malignancies.
Einstein's Kidney Transplant Program offers non-living, as well as living-related and living-unrelated kidney donor transplants.
Our Rich History
Einstein’s Kidney Transplantation Program, established in 1965, offers patients the latest surgical and interventional techniques,
including one pioneered at Einstein. Our medical experts have tremendous experience in treating end-stage renal disease with
kidney and combined kidney/pancreas transplantation, and in performing difficult transplants in high-risk patients. There
are 60 kidney transplants performed each year at Albert Einstein Medical Center, making it one of the largest transplant centers
in the Philadelphia area. The kidney specialists at Einstein also perform hundreds of non-transplant procedures each year
and are involved in numerous clinical trials to test the newest medications.
