Orthopedics - Back/Spine - Failed Back Program

Nearly a quarter million people have lumbar spine surgery each year in the hope that surgery will give them their lives back–reduce their pain, eliminate the need for medication and help them function better. Sadly, surgery doesn’t work for everyone, and in rare cases surgery can even make back pain worse. When this happens, it’s termed Failed Back Surgery Syndrome.

To help people overcome pain and dysfunction related to failed back surgery, Einstein Center for Orthopedic Sciences offers the Failed Back Program. Expert spine surgeons work with patients to identify and fix whatever is causing the continuation of pain: infection, other back conditions or diseases, nerve root disruption or excessive scarring. Einstein’s Failed Back Program offers superior diagnostic capabilities, advanced treatment techniques and a continuum of care that includes expert pain management and world-renowned medical rehabilitation.

Primary doctors who refer patients will be kept up-to-date on their progress; our patients are referred back to their primary doctors at the end of treatment.
