Certified physical therapist and athletic trainer Robert M. DiGiacomo, PT, ATC, serves as Clinical Coordinator of Sports Rehab
at MossRehab Outpatient Centers. His work as a physical therapist through the last decade has focused on orthopaedic rehabilitation
of the shoulder and knee as well as rehabilitation following amputation. DiGiacomo completed his undergraduate study in sports
medicine and movement science at the University of Pittsburgh; he earned his master’s in physical therapy at Hahnemann University
Graduate School of Allied Health Sciences in Philadelphia. As an athletic trainer at the University of Pittsburgh, DiGiacomo
performed extensive fieldwork with Division 1 athletes including those competing in football, wrestling and gymnastics. During
his tenure at the UPMC Center for Sports Medicine, he also worked with Pittsburgh’s professional athletes as well as athletes
who competed internationally. At various schools throughout the region, DiGiacomo educates parents, coaches and school administrators
on topics pertinent to young athletes, such as treatment of common adolescent athletic injuries and athletic injury prevention.
He has published papers in such peer-reviewed medical journals as the Journal of The American Podiatric Medical Association, and has had research presented at annual meetings of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He holds the position
of adjunct professor for the Orthotics and Prosthetics courses in the Doctoral in Physical Therapy Programs at Arcadia University
in Glenside, PA and Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, PA. DiGiacomo is a member of the Orthopedic Section of the
American Physical Therapy Association and the National Athletic Trainers Association.
