
John Whyte, MD, PhD
Dr. Whyte is Director,
Moss Rehabilitation Research Institute. His research focuses on attention problems seen in traumatic brain injury, recovery from coma and the vegetative state,
and rehabilitation outcomes. He directs one of the nation's federally funded
Model Systems of Care to learn about long-term outcomes after brain injury rehabilitation.
Dr. Whyte has received funding for his research from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institute of Neurologic
Diseases and Stroke (NINDS), the Department of Education/National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR),
the Department of the Army and the James McDonnel Foundation. He has also received seed money grants from the Albert Einstein
Society and Moss Rehabilitation Research Institute Peer Review Committee.
His articles have appeared in medical journals including
Journal of Head Trauma Rehabilitation,
Archives of Physical Medical Rehabilitation and
Brain.
He received his medical doctoral degree and doctorate in experimental psychology from the University of Pennsylvania. He is
board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation.
