Located in Philadelphia, PA, Moss Rehabilitation Research Institute (MRRI) is headquartered in the Korman Building adjacent
to MossRehab. The Research Institute occupies nearly 5,000 square feet of office and laboratory space devoted to cognitive
neuroscience and cognitive rehabilitation research; motor control and mobility rehabilitation research; and rehabilitation
outcomes research. MRRI's core administrative staff includes John Whyte, MD, PhD, Director; Myrna Schwartz, PhD, Associate
Director; and two full-time secretaries.
MRRI has an active post-doctoral research training program which attracts physiatrists, neurologists and psychologists. Fellows
provide additional research staff and help disseminate important research strategies and content as they pursue their own
work elsewhere.
MRRI offers support for research methodology and statistical analysis to investigators throughout MossRehab. Several MRRI
staff also have extensive experience in survey research, in-person interviewing, telephone data-gathering and qualitative
research techniques.
The institute also has diverse research equipment including high capacity computers for analysis of large data sets, a dedicated
videotape coding work station for behavioral studies, and an eye-gaze monitoring system.
Korman Library is located on the ground floor of the Korman Research Pavilion. The library houses a collection of research
journals and is staffed by a full-time library clerk who assists with library searches and inter-library loans. The library
has electronic access to the Scott Memorial Library of Thomas Jefferson University and electronic inter-library borrowing
arrangements with libraries around the country. MRRI also maintains its own subscription to library services at University
of Pennsylvania (which is separate from the electronic networking provided by the Korman/MossRehab and Luria Libraries).
