Women's Health

General Ob/Gyn

Beginning in her teens, every woman should receive medical care from a gynecologist. Throughout her life the level of care she requires may vary from the routine to the complex. Most of the time, a woman may only need to visit her physician for a yearly exam. At other times, she may need to visit more often if a problem develops. Einstein Healthcare Network offers the care women need through every stage of their lives.

A woman who plans to become pregnant or who already is pregnant should be under the care of a gynecologist who is also an obstetrician (often referred to as an ob/gyn). An obstetrician has the proper training, licensing and insurance to deliver babies. This physician also provides prenatal care to the mother-to-be to help ensure that the baby and the mother are healthy during the pregnancy and delivery.

Einstein’s board-certified ob/gyns provide general gynecologic and obstetric care to women of all ages. Each year, thousands of women visit Einstein physicians for a variety of reasons, including:

  • Yearly PAP smears, pelvic and breast exams
  • Birth control information and prescriptions
  • Counseling to help prepare women for childbirth
  • Prenatal care
  • Care for infections, sexually transmitted diseases and other health concerns
