Psychiatry Resident Academic Year 2020-2021
Jaime Thomas, D.O
Hey there! I am originally from India, but grew up in the state of good ol' Oklahoma since I was 6 years old. I went to Oklahoma State College of Osteopathic Medicine, and I am ecstatic to have matched at Einstein! I absolutely love Philadelphia, and I could not ask for a place that's a better fit for me. Some of my interests include learning about other cultures and the intricacies of human behavior (I mean yeah, why else would I be becoming a psychiatrist?! Ha-ha). I absolutely love international travel and get very antsy if I am not going somewhere on the regular. I will try almost anything once. I enjoy hanging with good people, cooking healthy versions of unhealthy food, listening to old school jazz and rap, and making music. Long term, I hope to open my own clinic and practice general adult psychiatry.
Andrew Mumma, M.D
I graduated from medical school at Thomas Jefferson University. My interests and experiences include psychosomatic and addiction medicine. I have worked at a methadone clinic, a substance abuse program for pregnant mothers, and a family practice that provides suboxone therapy. I enjoy working with patients with addiction and mental health concerns.
Carey Myers, M.D/PhD - Administrative Chief Resident for CME and Grand Rounds
Though I'm originally from Indiana, I went to college in DC and came to Philadelphia to attend medical school at Jefferson, where, in addition to my MD, I earned a PhD in immunology, studying cancer immunotherapy. I'm very interested in the history of the medical profession in Philadelphia, as it has a rich story beginning nearly with the founding of the city. Visiting historical sites is my favorite thing to do! Career-wise, I am interested in consult liaison psychiatry and end of life care.
Taylor Brana, D.O
Hello! I'm Taylor Brana! I'm originally from California, and was a division one athlete in Men's Gymnastics at Temple University. I had the pleasure of learning medicine at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and still utilize Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (shoulder and neck massages anyone?!) I am passionate about working with individuals to help them understand their own psyche. With this, I hope individuals can better interact with reality and accomplish their goals and ambitions. I also have a passion for the use of technology and how that can be used to help educate the population. I currently run a few podcasts including The Happy Doc and MedFlashGo which are part of my mission to provide free education on a wider scale. For fun, I enjoy rock climbing, learning the steel mace, and watching movies.
Robert Gadomski, D.O
I grew up in a small town outside of Scranton, PA and moved to Philadelphia for medical school. I fell in love with the city of Philadelphia and the field of psychiatry and was blessed to stay here for residency at Einstein. Through my experiences working in behavioral health in Philadelphia, I have become passionate for working with the underserved and marginalized. I have seen how the system propogates marginalization and prevents patient centered care for many of our populations. After residency, I will be moving to New York City for the Columbia University Public Psychiatry Fellowship. In my spare time, I enjoy watching sports, running, and reading mystery and thriller novels.
Alaa Ahmed, M.D
I am originally from Egypt and graduated from Alexandria University. I started my journey with psych there as a resident, then moved to Qatar, and finally continued my psych journey here at Einstein. This is a place where I know I can thrive and reach my dreams of being psychodynamic therapist/psychiatrist specialized in addiction or personality disorders. I love kickboxing, lifting weights, dancing, and traveling around meeting new people and learning new things.
Kyle Ward, D.O - Chief Resident
I grew up in a small town on Maryland's Eastern Shore. I attended Salisbury University in Maryland for my B.S. and continued there to get my M.S. in Applicational Biology with a focus on cellular biology. I then attended the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine for medical school and joined Einstein's psychiatry residency program in 2017. I am interested in a career in adult inpatient psychiatry. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, traveling, and trying new restaurants in the city.
