Welcome from the Program Director

Welcome to the Einstein Medical Center Integrated Interventional Radiology Residency Program! Thank you for your interest in our 5-year program that provides excellent training in both diagnostic and interventional radiology (IR).

Our IR department prides itself on providing comprehensive clinical management of patients, from the pre-procedural stage to the post-procedural follow-ups. Highlighted experiences include formal inpatient rounds/consultations, IR clinic, and admissions to the IR service. All of the IR faculty love our jobs and are excited to teach and work with our residents, the next generation of interventional radiologists. Due to our large volume of cases, residents often perform cases one-on-one with an attending, which naturally lends itself to a positive, supportive learning environment. Residents will have the opportunity to scrub into cases on their first day on the IR rotation and will be given increasing autonomy as their skills improve throughout their residency.

Along with an incredible interventional radiology experience, Einstein provides world-class diagnostic radiology training. We have a wonderful relationship with the diagnostic radiology department, and you will receive an excellent education that is paramount to your success as an interventionalist.

I hope you find what you are looking for on our website. If you have any questions, please contact our program coordinator Nichole, who can put you in touch with one of the residents or myself!

About the Program

The Integrated Interventional Radiology Residency Program at Einstein Healthcare Network is a 5-year ACGME accredited program that integrates 3 years of Diagnostic Radiology (DR) with 2 years of Interventional Radiology (IR) training. The Interventional Radiology residency experience encompasses the entire range of IR including vascular and nonvascular procedures.

Our residents perform a wide variety of cases, including loco-regional tumor therapy (chemoembolization, radioembolization, radiofrequency ablation, cryoablation), transplant and hepato-biliary interventions, angioplasty, catheter-directed thrombolysis/thrombectomy, IVC filter placement/retrieval, venous reconstruction, vascular stenting, fibroid embolization, TIPS, BRTO, vascular anomaly ablation, and pediatric interventions.

There is a strong emphasis on the complete clinical management of patients via admissions to the IR service, formal inpatient rounds and consultations, and outpatient IR Clinic. The IR faculty are actively engaged in research, and there are numerous opportunities for residents to participate in projects. Our residents have presented their research at major radiology conferences, including SIR and RSNA, with travel support/stipend from the hospital for all accepted posters/presentations.

About the Hospital
