Albert Einstein is a name universally recognized and one that has become synonymous with brilliant science and innovative thinking. He was also a compassionate humanitarian with a deep moral sense who changed the way we looked at each other and ourselves. His concern for mankind is reflected in his philosophical views and social activism.
In 1951, we sought permission to use Albert Einstein’s name for the new medical center being formed through the merger of the Jewish, Mount Sinai, and Northern Liberties Hospitals – now known as Albert Einstein Medical Center. On June 28, 1951, Albert Einstein wrote a letter in response, honoring the request. We feel a great sense of pride to share the name of this exceptional and humble scientist.
