Cardiology

The Einstein Healthcare Network Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship is committed to providing a broad base of advanced training in the specialty of cardiovascular diseases.

With over 2,300 cardiac and peripheral catheterizations, 862 electrophysiology procedures, 4,800 nuclear stress tests, 8,800 echoes, and 50,000 electrocardiograms performed annually, fellows are provided a wealth of educational opportunities.

Electrophysiology Laboratory

Einstein's cardiac facilities include the Minerva and Fred Braemer Heart Center, a state-of-the-art digital catheterization and hybrid laboratories, a newly upgraded electrophysiology laboratory and a second new lab with biplane fluoroscopy, intracardiac electrocardiography, Carto and ESI three-dimensional mapping systems, 256 slice cardiac CT and MRI, a fully digital electrocardiography laboratory and an outpatient cardiac center.  There is also a spacious, modern CCU and newly renovated Cardiac Telemetry floor. Together these ensure fellows acquire the consulting expertise and technical skills required of a cardiologist in the 21st Century.

The Division of Cardiovascular Diseases is comprised of 31 full-time faculty members. The faculty’s on-going commitment to research affords fellows ample opportunity to become involved in a variety of clinical investigations.

The Cardiology Fellowship Program at Einstein Healthcare Network is committed to providing a broad base of advanced training in the specialty of Cardiovascular Diseases.  The program is structured to ensure that fellows acquire the consulting expertise and the technical skills required of a cardiologist.

Catheterization Lab

The primary focus of the Einstein cardiology fellowship program is to produce the highest quality academic and clinical cardiologist.  We believe the best way to fulfill this goal is through a combination of self-study, didactic instruction, clinical research and supervised exposure to cardiac pathology.  Research skills and the ability to properly review the medical literature are also emphasized.

The ACGME-approved Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship at Einstein Healthcare Network accepts five fellows per year.  In addition, two ACGME-approved Interventional 4th year fellow positions are available as well as two Clinical Heart Failure Fellowship positions.

The Department of Medicine sponsors three residency programs (internal medicine (78), preliminary year (10) and transitional year (20) residents) and nine ACGME accredited fellowships.  The institution's academic affiliation is with Jefferson Medical College providing students with elective and subinternship rotations. For the past twelve years, Einstein's internal medicine program has maintained greater than a 98% Board Pass Rate.
