Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

The Einstein Cardiology fellowship training program strives to foster a diverse and inclusive environment for clinical care, education, and research. The program is committed to equity, inclusion of individuals who are under-represented in medicine, and training a diverse generation of cardiologists. There are several resources within Einstein Health Network related to these efforts.

Family and Fellowship Training

Einstein Cardiology supports fellows through life transitions. All fellows are eligible for 6-8 weeks of paid maternity or paternity leave. Additional paid time off is available from the fellow’s annual vacation and/or sick leave. In accordance with American Board of Internal Medicine’s (“ABIM”) Leave of Absence policy, training must be extended to make up any absences exceeding 5 weeks (35 days) per year of training. Graduation from the General Cardiovascular Disease Program is then based on ABIM approval of the Deficits in Required Training Time policy and demonstration of competency assessed by the fellowship clinical competency committee.

Lactation

We support our fellows who choose to continue breastfeeding when they return from maternity leave. Fellows are permitted protected time for expressing milk at reasonable intervals with access to private, convenient, comfortable, and sanitary spaces.
