The curriculum content will include all areas of endocrinology, metabolism, and diabetes.
Schedule Outline
Each fellow will have one half day of continuity clinic with their own patients for the full two years.
Our fellows' time is split between two inpatient services, outpatient-only time, and research. First year has more hospital coverage; second year has more research/elective time.
First year fellows rotate on the inpatient service at Einstein Medical Center/Willowcrest Skilled Nursing Facility for 4 months and on the inpatient service at Elkins Park/Moss Rehab Hospital for 4 months. They spend 3 months on an outpatient/elective rotation with six half-day clinics per week and no hospital responsibility. One month is reserved for research.
Second year fellows have more flexibility and opportunity for electives and research. They spend 6 months total on inpatient services, have 3 months reserved for research, and spend the rest of the time on outpatient/elective rotation, which includes rotations in the required electives of pediatric and reproductive endocrinology.
All fellows are given 4 weeks of vacation per year. Call is 1 in 4 weeks, including a generally light evening pager call and weekend hospital coverage.
