Einstein Medical Center Philadelphia is a 772-bed tertiary care teaching hospital with a large full time faculty and a wide variety of training programs. The hospital has an accredited Level I Regional Resource Trauma Center and one of the busiest emergency rooms in Philadelphia. In addition, Einstein Medical Center Philadelphia serves as a Level III Neonatal, Transplant and Cardiovascular Center. It is the site of our Wednesday morning didactic conferences which all residents attend.
Einstein Medical Center Elkins Park is a 300-bed acute care hospital in nearby Elkins Park. The bulk of the surgical volume here is elective. It is the principal home of the Bariatric program, but also provides a large volume of non-Bariatric minimally invasive surgery.
Einstein Medical Center Montgomery provides an experience in community general surgery. Six of our faculty members work there on a daily basis. Residents obtain significant exposure to minimally invasive surgery, bariatric surgery, open vascular and endovascular surgery, as well as robotic general surgery.
St. Christopher's Hospital for Children is a 189-bed pediatric hospital that provides PGY-2 residents a three-month pediatric surgery rotation to satisfy their requirement for Pediatric Surgery. Residents will also obtain some exposure to care of burn patients. It is located 3 miles from Einstein Medical Center Philadelphia.
