The Einstein Healthcare Network began in 1866 as a 22 bed Jewish hospital. Today, it has grown into a not-for-profit organization with several major hospitals, many outpatient centers and numerous primary care and specialty care locations throughout the Philadelphia region. The Einstein Healthcare Network is comprised of three hospitals, Einstein Medical Center Montgomery, Einstein Medical Center Philadelphia, Einstein Medical Center Elkins Park.

In the academic year of 2007-2008, the division of vascular surgery performed approximately 100 cases. 10 years later, academic year 2017-2018, the division of vascular surgery performed over 1400 vascular surgery procedures. These procedures included all the traditional open surgical cases as well as the cutting-edge endovascular procedures. The division of vascular surgery has been a regular contributor at the local and national academic vascular meetings. After an internal review of the vascular surgery division, it was decided that the Einstein Healthcare Network could successfully train the next generation of vascular surgeons. Thus, in the fall of 2018, the Einstein Healthcare Network applied for an Integrated Vascular Surgery Residency (0+5) training program and received ACGME accreditation to start training residents in July, 2019.

The Vascular Surgery Residency Program is based out of the Einstein Montgomery Campus, however, residents will also perform several rotations at the Einstein Philadelphia Campus as well. Rotations at the Einstein Montgomery site include vascular surgery, general surgery, CT surgery, and radiology. Rotations on the Philadelphia Campus include vascular surgery, trauma surgery, transplant surgery, and the surgical intensive care unit. There are no rotations at the Elkins Park location.

Good luck in the application process. We look forward to meeting you.
