When a family member or loved one dies, feelings of grief and bereavement are part of a wide range of emotions you may experience. These feelings are normal. The Grief Support Program of Einstein Healthcare Network Montgomery helps aid your healing process by providing counseling, information and other resources free of charge.
Grief support offers:
- A phone call in the weeks after your loved one's death
- A visit by a state-certified grief counselor
- Mailings with timed information to guide you through the grieving process
- Follow-up phone support for up to 13 months
- Grief support groups
Grief support groups are open to anyone in the community who has lost a loved one at least three months previously. These peer groups, facilitated by a grief counselor, teach coping skills and can help you deal with feelings of loneliness. They are held twice a month.
Special education workshops are offered periodically. Topics include: coping with anger; how to handle Mother's and Father's days; understanding male grief and making memory boxes.
Events are held to commemorate loved ones. Family members who have gone through grief counseling will be notified of these ceremonies, held several times a year.
Should you need additional guidance, we can direct you to other area resources designed to help with specific loss situations, for example the death of a child or death by suicide.
