Receiving a new transplant is a life-altering event. Einstein’s team of transplant social workers are there to support transplant patients and their families throughout the entire process.

Allying Einstein’s Medical Team and Your Team

Your social worker will serve as a liaison between Einstein’s team of doctors, surgeons and specialists and your family, helping you understand what to expect before and after transplantation

From Consultation to Recovery

Einstein’s social work team helps patients navigate every nuance of receiving a new organ. Our transplant social worker’s services include:

  • Emotional and family support
  • Financial stress counseling
  • Insurance and medication consultation
  • Crisis counseling
  • Community resources
  • Arranging housing and transportation prior to surgery
  • Arranging in-home services after surgery

Pre-Transplant Counseling

Our social workers meet with every transplant candidate prior to surgery to help you and your family handle the stress of illness and the rigors of managing your health while on the donor organ waiting list.

Maintaining a Healthy Lifestyle

Our transplant social workers understand the magnitude of receiving a new liver. It is an amazing gift to receive and they want to help every transplant recipient fulfill the promise of that gift after surgery. Independence after transplantation is our team’s ultimate mission for organ recipients.

Monthly Support Groups

Our team hosts monthly support groups for organ transplant recipients and their families or caregivers. Topics include nutrition, thanking donor families, insurance issues, and more.
