Mood, or affective, disorders are mental disorders that primarily affect mood and interfere with your activities or daily living. Specific stressors or a spontaneous exacerbation of a patient’s condition can trigger the illness.
Mood disorders include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Anxiety Disorder typically lasts over six months and greatly impedes a person’s work and personal life
- Bipolar Disorder: Extreme shifts from high to low mood, also known as manic depression.
- Depression affects a person’s behavior, personal life, and physical well-being; the most common mental health problem in the U.S.
Individual Treatment Plans
Our multidisciplinary staff will examine the patient to formulate an individual treatment plan.
Our treatment focuses on:
- Addressing the stressors that provoked the crisis
- Providing symptomatic relief with medication
- Educating patients and their families
- Creating an aftercare plan to help patients access resources post-discharge
Group therapy
Mood and affective disorder patients also participate in group therapy focused on enhancing insight and coping skills.
