Joel D. Pomerantz, MD, Appointed Chair of Geriatrics at Einstein Medical Center Philadelphia
Joel D. Pomerantz, MD, has been appointed Chair of the Division of Geriatrics for Einstein Medical Center Philadelphia. Dr. Pomerantz earned his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University in New York. He returned to Philadelphia and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Temple University Hospital. He is board certified in Geriatric Medicine.
Dr. Pomerantz’s interest in Geriatrics began in 1987 shortly after opening his private practice in Internal Medicine in the Mount Airy section of Philadelphia. He was in private practice for 26 years before formally joining Einstein Community Health Associates at Elders Hall, a medical group practice in Mount Airy.
He sees patients in consultation for geriatric psychiatry, trauma and acute care surgery. Dr. Pomerantz’s interests are evaluation of falls in the elderly, treatment of dementia and delirium, and avoiding polypharmacy. In addition to his uncompromising dedication to his patients, he is dedicated to teaching the residents and medical students at Einstein.
