Einstein Appoints Dr. Antonette Climaco Chair, Department of Infectious Disease
Antonette Climaco, MD, has been appointed Chair of the Division of Infectious Disease for Einstein Healthcare Network.
Dr. Climaco has been with Einstein since she joined as an Infectious Disease attending physician in 2012. She has a particular interest in transplant, HIV and travel medicine.
She led Einstein in the expanded access of remdesivir, an FDA-approved intravenous drug to treat COVID-19, with Einstein Philadelphia being the first hospital in the Philadelphia area to gain access to the drug. She also participated in the development of Einstein’s COVID-19 treatment protocols.
Dr. Climaco earned a doctor of medicine degree from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines. She completed an internship at the University of Santo Tomas and a residency in Internal Medicine at Einstein Medical Center Philadelphia. She continued her training and completed an Infectious Disease fellowship at Einstein Medical Center Philadelphia.
She is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Infectious Diseases. Dr. Climaco is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Sidney Kimmel College at Thomas Jefferson University.
Dr. Climaco succeeds Dr. Robert Fischer who stepped down as Chair but continues as an attending Infectious Disease physician and to serve as a faculty member.
