The neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Einstein Medical Center Philadelphia provides excellent care for our youngest hospital patients.
Designated by the Pennsylvania Department of Health, Einstein Medical Center Philadelphia is recognized as a Level III NICU capable of providing high-level acute care to our patients. Our NICU is staffed by highly trained doctors and nurses in neonatal intensive care.
Our NICU, staffed round-the-clock by expert neonatologists, regularly cares for babies with conditions resulting from prematurity, congenital malformation, respiratory distress, infection, neurologic and metabolic disorders, and complications of pregnancy or labor and delivery.
At our hospital, the neonatal intensive care unit staff cares for both our patients and their family. With a commitment to compassionate care with a family focus, we recommend parental touch and kangaroo care in the NICU.
Our NICU team encourages parents to hold their baby and engage in skin-to-skin contact. This contact has been shown to help regulate breathing and heart rates, maintaining body warmth, promote better sleep, and assist with weight gain.
In addition to our focus on compassion and the family, Einstein Medical Center Philadelphia treats our NICU patients with the latest state-of-the art technology to provide for the best outcome.
