Nahid Farhat, MD, MEd, Program Director

Dr. Farhat earned her medical degree from King Faisal University in Dammam, Saudi Arabia before completing her family medicine residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. She also completed a fellowship in faculty development and women’s health at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. She was core faculty at the University of Dammam and joined the Einstein community in 2019. Dr. Farhat is board certified in family medicine and has a special interest in residency education, health literacy, musculoskeletal medicine, and reproductive health.


Rupa Natarajan, MD, Associate Program Director

Dr. Rupa Natarajan attended the University of Toledo College of Medicine in Toledo, Ohio. She completed her residency in Family Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and fellowship in Reproductive Health Advocacy at the Institute for Family Health in NY. She held a faculty position at Institute for Family Health (affiliated with Mt Sinai) in which she taught medical students, residents, and fellows, and precepted medical students managing the ECHO free clinic in the Bronx. She has also worked at Planned Parenthood and in private practice prior to joining Einstein. Currently, she is the Associate Medical Director for Einstein Community Health Associates. Her interests include reproductive health, healthcare equity, and integrated behavioral health.

Needhi Pattani, DO

Dr. Needhi Pattani, D.O. is a practicing family medicine physician at Einstein Medical Center, Philadelphia where she practices outpatient primary care and inpatient medicine. Dr. Pattani is board-certified in family medicine by American Board of Family Medicine and American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians.  Dr. Pattani did her undergraduate work at University of Delaware where she received a degree in Biological Sciences. She then earned her medical degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia, PA and completed her residency training in Family Medicine at Christiana Care Health System.

Christopher Scaven, DO

Dr. Christopher Scaven attended Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and finished his Internship/Residency at Suburban General Hospital in Norristown, Pennsylvania. He is board certified in Family Medicine by the American Board of Osteopathic Medicine and has been in clinical practice for 23 years. Dr. Scaven is the Medical Director for Einstein Community Health Associates which is the Primary Care Outpatient Division in the Urban Core consisting of 17 outpatient practices including Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, and Pediatrics.

Martha A. Simmons, MD, FAAFP

Dr. Simmons earned her medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. She completed her family medicine residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and a reproductive health and advocacy fellowship at the Reproductive Health Access Project and The Institute for Family Health in New York, New York. She provides full spectrum primary care with a focus on reproductive health, family planning and non-operative obstetrics. Dr. Simmons is active within the AAFP and holds a position on the Commission of Federal and State Policy where she is an active advocate for women’s health and reproductive health issues.
